A Simple Guide to Our First Steps

Taking the first step can feel overwhelming, but my goal is to make this process as clear and supportive as possible. Below, you’ll find helpful information to prepare you for our journey together.

What to Expect

The purpose of our first 45-minute meeting is to determine the right next steps for your family.

We'll have a collaborative discussion about your concerns, which may lead to parent support, school consultation, or moving forward with an evaluation.

If an evaluation is decided upon, that entire day is reserved just for your child to work at their own pace, with plenty of breaks.

What to Bring

To help me get a complete picture of your child’s journey, please complete all electronic paperwork at least two business days prior to our meeting.

You can also upload any relevant documents you may have, such as previous evaluation reports, current school records (like an IEP or 504 Plan), and any feedback from teachers, directly into the secure portal.

How to Prepare Your Child

I avoid using “testing” language in my office to prevent stress. I often use the Goldilocks story as an example, explaining that we are finding what is “just right” for them through a series of activities.

You can share that my job is to see how their brain works and what the world looks like through their eyes. It's their opportunity to share what's going well and what's been hard, in a space where they are free to be themselves.
